I like how they actually made it look like troopers could stand up to Sith. From what people said they have done well on class balance.

That's the very thought I had as well. I'm sure it was very, very intentional on Bioware's part. Most of the movies have Jedis/Sith running around like mini-gods that can OMG pwn entire armies by themselves. If that perception carried into the game, then you'd you would have a pretty lop-sided experience.

I'm sure it'll still be lopsided. Atleast at the start.

I'm sure you're right, but if they do a good job of balancing, a lot of those "FOTM" players will likely reroll once they see other classes as viable.

Well, this would be the first video showing the class of trooper that the players would be representing. Obviously a standard trooper is fairly screwed versus a jedi (as they should be), but players take the role of the elite of the elite which is what those troopers represent according to the description of the video.

Though in the Old Republic setting, sith and jedi seem considerably easier to kill based on the games set in the period. Sure they're still tougher but considering your non-jedi party members didn't have too much trouble with sith enemies, it suggests they aren't nearly as ridiculously powerful as in the movies. Perhaps due to the number of jedi/sith active kind of "diluted" the force or something random like that...

That's an interesting thought. We know from the movies that the amount of the force present in any individual is measured via metaclorians (spl?)... of which Anakin had the highest ever seen. If that is a fixed number, then it makes sense that when they're fewer force weilders, they get stronger, and when their are more, they get weaker. This idea also seems to make sense with the concept of balance in the force (having 100000000 sith as strong as Anakin running around could do far too much harm and thus unbalance life in the galaxy, etc.).

Again, this is just speculation, but it seems feasible.

I refuse to get my hopes up too high because my two last MMO forays have been disappointing to me, and I think it's due in part to my own over-excitement, but that being said... I'm definitely getting this on day 1.

Haha, I hear ya. Smiley

I got wayyyy to over-excited for WAR and AoC, both of which were meh (at least AoC has rebounded some, it seems). Everyone is expecting SWTOR to be AMAZING, I'm just hoping for decent and enjoyable. Smiley

The problem comes from these videos. They're so much cooler than the game turns out to be Tongue

For sure.

While I'm hoping SWTOR isn't a bust, I'd be equally surprised if it is as uber as some of the fanboys are making it out to be. I've certainly seen plently to raise some eyebrows so Im trying to keep my excitement tempered a bit.
